Respect Tradition – Embrace Innovation

Today IS the most exciting time to be involved in technology. Today IS the most exciting time to be in Butler IT. Today IS this most exciting time to be a part of Butler University.

Butler has a vision. Pete, Mary and Joe have a vision. What is your team’s vision? What is your vision. What is your part in Butler Beyond? Together we will explore the steps to creating, communicating and completing the vision. Each member of the team has a role in each of these steps. 

Butler’s Department of Information Technology has some strong traditions: Interaction with all levels of the University; Humbleness; Ability to vet and to be vetted by peers; Giving Back to the community; and, Change. We will identify the key traits needed to respect these traditions. 

Butler Beyond is about innovation. It is about innovation that relies in whole or in part on Technology. The face of IT is changing. To be successful, each member of the department must know their role as a part of the whole, each member will impact the organization, each member must be vulnerable, to try and to fail, and to learn from each experience. 

We will close with a look back (respect tradition), to envision the future (embrace innovation).
