#AmplifyYourLeadership Lewis & ClarkIt’s not often I get to speak to someone who is equally passionate about Lewis and Clark as I am. I was thrilled to be a guest on The Good Life podcast to talk about the leadership lessons that can be gleaned from the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Host, Sean Murray, and I dig into the expedition in Part I of this two-part interview. Having authored a microbook titled Everything I Learned About Leadership…I Learned from Lewis and Clark and numerous blog posts, I enjoyed the conversation with Sean.

In Part I, we talk about vision, team building, accountability, and diversity as we trace the footsteps of Lewis and Clark on the first part of their epic journey. If you missed it, here is the link!

In Part II, we discuss developing resilience in yourself and your team, overcoming obstacles, and how to make a decision when your team disagrees! Check out this installment of Lewis and Clark!

Simply Solving Cyber is the brand new podcast by Aaron Pritz and Teddy Guzek. This show features an interactive discussion between expert hosts and guests focused on solving cybersecurity and privacy challenges in innovative and creative ways. Their goal is for their audience to learn and discover real, tangible, usable ideas that don’t require a huge budget to accomplish. Shows like “How It’s Made” have become popular because they explain complicated or largely unknown things in easy terms. This show brings the human element to cybersecurity and privacy.

In this episode, we talk about how my team and I solved PCI compliance issues using people and process before technology. While ultimately technology did play a part, we were about to resolve many of the issues by working with the people and driving new processes.

A Geek Leader: Amplify Your Job SearchIt was great to be back on A Geek Leader and talk to host John Rouda. John is a great host who makes his guests feel comfortable. Perhaps it is because I AM a geek leader! In this episode, we discuss my new book, Amplify Your Job Search, and why it is so important in today’s economy.  We highlight the importance of networking, not only to your job search but to your career overall. We also discuss the role of technology in culture during COVID and why that is important to the job seeker. Listen in to this lively conversation!

Status Go "Proactive Leadership" with Steve JohnsStatus Go – Episode 86

2020 has been a year of chaos…to say the least. A global pandemic, rising racial tensions, economic devastation, and more. Leaders have been challenged unlike never before. Steve takes us on the journey of 2020, the problems they were facing, the decisions he and his leadership team made, and the resulting future they have built. The organization is stronger, more united, and positioned to grow. Listen to one of the greatest leadership stories of 2020 (and maybe of our times)!

Status Go: Race in Tech | Culture ChangeStatus Go – Episode 84

In this episode of Status Go, we continue our series Race in Tech. In this series, our focus is on amplifying the voices of our black colleagues, learning how to create inclusive environments, and taking action against systemic racism in tech. My guest on this episode is Dr. Natoshia Anderson, a self-described recovering mechanical engineer who now focuses her time on education in STEM. She is the host of STEMming in Stilletos (GREAT name for a podcast!).

We discuss a lot of topics, but we focus on the intersection of being black, being female, and being a mother. Dr. Anderson shares deeply about the heaviness in her heart and soul in light of, yet another incident of violence against a black man by police. She talks candidly about sending her son out into the world with fear…every day.

Give it a listen and while you are at it, check out STEMming in Stilletos!

Status Go - “Race in Tech | Reducing Isolation” with Cynthia BillopsStatus Go – Episode 82

Cynthia Billops is the director of programs for the organization /dev/color. /dev/color is an organization whose mission is to provide black software engineers the support they need to grow into industry leaders. Cynthia is passionate about that mission. Her passion comes through loud and clear as we talk about the organization.

I came away with two powerful insights into the heart of being a black engineer in tech. I am not going to tell you what those two takeaways are, I want you to listen to the episode and tell me your takeaways!.
